You will have an amazing boat cruise and game drive experience at Akagera national park, chimpanzee tracking, and canopy walk at Nyungwe national park, Mountain Gorilla tracking, and cultural experience at volcanoes national park, and boat cruise at Lake Kivu. Detailed Safari
Day 1: Pickup, City tour and transfer to Nyungwe National park
On your arrival at Kigali international airport, our driver-guide will be glad to meet and offer you a very warm reception at the Land of a thousand hills, Rwanda, after which he will proceed to brief you about everything you will have to know concerning the trip, before heading out for a city tour where you will drive around the cleanest city in East Africa.
Visiting the local markets to purchase some of the items you will need for the trip, the souvenirs, and exchanging your money to local currency for easy transactions. You will have lunch at the city before visiting Gisozi Genocide memorial site to listen to the stories of those innocently killed by a group of heartless people in 1994, then proceed with the 3-4 hours’ drive to Nyungwe national park, arriving in the evening for dinner and a nap at your lodge
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
As the sun peeps early in the morning, you should be done enjoying your cup of coffee, while clad on a complete hiking attire with all the essential items such as the cameras, binoculars, water container, and an Umbrella among others, because your driver will pick you up very early in the morning to drive to the park’s headquarters to catch-up with the trekking briefing time that commences at 8:00 am.
The park rangers will take you through the benefits of visiting these relatives in their natural habitat. Encounter the chimpanzees coexisting with over 12 different primate species such as the Colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, the grey checked monkeys and baboons among others, not forgetting several unique bird species and precious plant species.
The trekking can last for up to 5hours, with one-hour allowance given to you to closely watch, take photos and study these creatures shout, play and feed using sticks as their fork.
After tracking these creatures, you will return to the park’s headquarters for lunch before going for a rewarding opportunity of enjoying a 2-hour forest canopy walk experience that gives you an opportunity of watching the rolling hills, primate plays on the treetops and so forth, before returning for refreshment, dinner, and sleep
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National park
After breakfast, you will say goodbye to your hosts, and checkout and hit the road to Volcanoes national park, while enjoying the beautiful views of the rolling hills, green plantations, and the scattered homesteads, meanwhile, the unending stories from the tour guide is on.
You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in at your lodge where you will be served with late Lunch. Thereafter, you will rest in the afternoon, while enjoying the beautiful gardens followed by dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning gorilla trekking and cultural encounter
You will start this day with breakfast that will reward you with energy to beat the steep Hills of Volcanoes national park before going to the park’s headquarters to be briefed by expert park rangers who will breakdown for you the rules governing Gorilla trekking. Thereafter, the park rangers will allocate you to a specific gorilla family of your choice, before accompanying you to track.
Pick up from where the gorillas were last spotted, for approximately 5hours depending on how far they have moved. Upon finding them, you will be given one hour to watch and take photos.
After the one hour, you will return for refreshment and Lunch before going for an amazing cultural experience with locals living around the park, this is one way of learning from others and having fun. When all is done, drive back to the lodge for dinner and deep slumber.
Day 5: Transfer to Akagera National Park
On this day, you will check out of the lodge After having a very delicious breakfast, and embark on a 3-4 hours’ drive to Akagera national park, while enjoying some amazing sceneries of evergreen plantations, stunning undulating hills and the local natives moving on with their daily activities. You will arrive at the park and proceed for refreshment and lunch.
After some time of resting, you will head out for evening game drive experience in the quest for some of the nocturnal mammals and night hunters such as the Hyenas, lions, and leopards among others. After the 2-4 hours’ search, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 6: Morning game drive and Boat cruise at Lake Ihema
After finishing the last dot of coffee in your cup, drive to the park for a rewarding 4-5 hours’ game drive experience where you will have the chance of spotting some of the African big five members namely, lion, buffalos, Rhinos, elephants, and leopards co-existing with the other mammals such as different Antelope species, zebras and giraffes among others, all sheltered in the thick savanna grassland and fascinating tree species that double as home to unique bird species.
After, have a picnic lunch before heading out to Lake Ihema where you will have an exciting 2-3 hours’ unforgettable boat cruise experience that exposes you to crocodiles, hippos and several mammals and birds. You will call off the day with dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Morning game drive and Departure
You will start this day with breakfast, then a wonderful 2-3 hours’ game drive experience before checking out of the lodge for a 4-5 hours’ smooth drive to Kigali international airport for your flight back home or to the next destination, while enjoying the eye-catching views of the rolling hills and amazing sights of the green vegetation.
