10 Days Best of Uganda Safari

This 10 days Uganda safari will take you to Uganda’s greatest national parks among which include, Kibale national park where you will have chimpanzee experience, Queen Elizabeth national park for wildlife game safari, Bwindi impenetrable national park for an ultimate gorilla trekking experience and to Lake Mburo national park for a cool sail on the beautiful lake. Still on this tour, you have enroute activities and visits such as a tour to Semliki national park, Amabere Ga’nyinamwiru caves and a community visit to the Batwa people.

Detailed itinerary 

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park

Pick up from your hotel after breakfast and a briefing by the driver guide; set off to western Uganda. Drive via Mityana Mubende route with a stopover at Entanda culture center in Mityana for a traditional experience.

You will be welcomed by the rhyming traditional music from the local drums, have fruitful culinary adventure where you will test a number of fresh fruits like pineapples, jackfruits, watermelons, sugar canes, etc.

Other activities such as tree planting, nature walks, Ssenga talks and traditional dancing will all be participated in Entanda. Later proceed to Kyenjojo and to Kibale national park, on arrival check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and wetland walk in Bigodi.

After breakfast, head to the information Centre for briefing about personal conduct while trekking the primates. Thereafter head out to trek the great species in the jungle. Kibale national park has about 13 primate species including the famous chimpanzees, no wonder it’s referred to as the primate capital of the world.

Trekking will take about 2 to 6 hours depending on where you will meet the chimps; besides the chimps, the forest also contains different bird species that will be seen while moving in the forest.

After this activity, return for lunch and in the afternoon undertake an optional visit to Bigodi wetland sanctuary that will expose you to primate life and birds such as the white and black Colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and grey cheeked Mangabeys, etc. Later head back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Visit Semliki national park, via Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru caves.

Wake up early for a flavorsome breakfast as you prepare for a drive to Semliki national park. Check out of the lodge and set off to the next destination in Bundibugyo.

On arrival in the park, have briefing by the area guide about the various attractions in the park, there after set to view the gorgeous Sempaya hot springs, the guide will provide information concerning these hot springs as they have both traditional myths and geographical sense attached to their formation.

You will visit both the male and female springs and activities such as egg boiling and photography will be done. While traversing the beautiful forest of the park you will come across numerous bird species such as Blue –billed, Red-eyed Puff back, Ituri Baits and the Congo Serpent Eagle among others.

Later on, return to Fort portal for lunch and a visit to Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru, a national historical site in western Uganda. Later in the evening have a rest in the lodge for supper and dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, and evening game drive.

Have breakfast, and head off southwest wards to Queen Elizabeth national park, a land diverse with wildlife and vegetation. Check in at the lodge, chill and relax till lunch.

Later in the evening, go for a game drive in Kasenyi sector where various game such as the Hyenas, Warthogs, Elephants and Antelopes etc. can be spotted; after get back to the lodge for an overnight stay and supper.

Day 5: Morning game drive and Boat cruise.

This is another exciting day of the trip; after a warm cup of tea, prepare for a sunrise game drive around the Katwe area and Queen’s pavilion. This sector is well known for abundant mammal species such as Buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Impalas and Elephants that will be viewed while on the game drive.

Have lunch and in the afternoon go for a legendary boat cruise on the Kazinga channel where hippos and beautiful bird species will be spotted.  After the refreshing activities, return to your place of accommodation.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi, Batwa community.

You will wake up early for a delicious breakfast, check out of the lodge and head for a drive to Bwindi impenetrable N/P which is a 4 – 5-hour drive. Reach in time for lunch and prepare for community visit to the Batwa community, the original inhabitants of the forest together with the mountain gorillas.

You will be led by a community guide who will brief you about these indigenous people; have a cultural experience through the traditional folk songs, dance, hunting and gathering skills and entire lifestyle of the Batwa people. Trek back to the lodge after this experience.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Buhoma sector.

Have breakfast and straight away go to the park headquarters for a briefing. Trekking will take place in Buhoma – a sector found in the North of Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Buhoma sector has four gorilla families that include Habinyanja, Katwe, Mubare and Rushegura. A group of 8 members will be allowed to trek and spend only one hour with a specific gorilla family.

You will witness the livelihood of these great species as you take their pictures and learn about their family composition. Thereafter return to the lodge for a rest and supper.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park.

As you continue to explore Uganda, on the eighth day, transfer for another adventure in Uganda’s beautiful national park. After a tasty breakfast, have a 5-hour drive to Lake Mburo national park.

Have lunch after arrival; relax as you view the beautiful lake with adorable animals grazing in the acacia vegetation. Have dinner in the evening and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 9: Horseback safari and boat cruise.

As you wake up to the cool breeze of Lake Mburo, have breakfast and embark on an amazing experience in the forest on a horse ride where you will view different game and bird species.

This will take about five hours, thereafter return for lunch as you prepare for a boat cruise in the afternoon.

You will enjoy this boat cruise as you relax and take in the view of beautiful mammals and birds around Lake Mburo. After head back to the lodge for a mouthwatering dinner and a comfy sleep over.

Day 10: Travel to Kampala

Wake up on chills and relaxation in the park as you still enjoy the beautiful scenic views of Lake Mburo National Park. Have lunch and prepare for a transfer back to Kampala, this will be 4-hour drive. On arrival, proceed to Entebbe international airport for departure.
