6 days Uganda wildlife safari is a combined safari that takes one to all the top Uganda safari destinations including Murchison falls National Park in the North-west which contains the most powerful falls in the whole world and is the largest park in Uganda, Kibale National Park in western region of Uganda which is the first choice park when it comes to chimp trekking in Uganda and then to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the most popular park in Uganda.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls N/park.
You will be picked up by the driver to embark on a 282 kilometers’ journey to Murchison falls national park from Kampala through Luwero, Nakasongola and Masindi districts; enroute you may opt to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district.
Have lunch in Masindi town and then proceed to the park, you will be welcomed by various wild animals like giraffes, buffaloes among others as you drive through the park to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise.
Wake up early in the morning, to go for an early game drive in the northern sector of the park in order to spot out some nocturnal species before returning to their hideouts. This activity lasts for 2-3 hours and you will be able to see bushbucks, Oribis, warthogs, buffaloes and a variety of bird species like marabou stork, goliath heron, swamp flycatcher to mention but a few. Return to the lodge for coffee, relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, head to Paraa jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River which starts at 2:00pm heading to the bottom of the falls. On this journey, have an opportunity to see water animals like hippos, crocodiles, mammals like buffaloes and elephants.
Have a chance to see birds including bee-eaters, African fish eagles, herons and kingfishers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the falls as you hike up to the top.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
Have a cup of tea in the morning and transfer to Kibale national park in the western region of Uganda via Kyenjojo-Hoima road, 346.9 kilometers from Murchison falls N/P to Kibale National park, have an enroute tour to the Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru caves for a short cultural tour to visit these historical caves in the out skirts of Fort Portal to listen to the thrilling ancient stories about these caves. Reach the park in the evening, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Following your heartfelt cup of tea, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing with your fellow trekkers about the dos and the don’ts during chimpanzee trekking. After this, you will hike into the thick tropical forest of Kibale to start trekking the chimps.
During this expedition, you will have a chance to see many tree species and birds as you walk through the forest. This activity lasts for 2-3 hours depending on the movements and location of the chimps. Upon reaching these primates, you will spend 1 hour with them as you enjoy their day to day lifestyle. Return to the lodge for refreshment and lunch.
After lunch, embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park which takes about 2 hours driving a journey of 103 kilometers from Kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive in the evening and proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game drive and Boat Cruise
Early in the morning, proceed to Kasenyi plains for an early morning game drive to spot early morning raisers before they go back to their hideouts. Among the early morning nocturnal species include; buffaloes, lions, leopards, antelopes and much more. After, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, set off to Mweya jetty for a thrilling boat cruise along Kazinga channel that links the two fresh water water bodies, Lake Edward and Lake Gorge. During this 2-hour boat cruise you will be able to see crocodiles, hippos, elephants and so many others. After, go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala via the equator
After your morning breakfast, transfer back to Kampala via the Equator in Mpigi – Kayabwe town for relaxation, take some pictures for memories and buy some hand-made crafts, then proceed with your journey to Kampala for departure.
