The 2 days Bwindi gorilla trekking from Kigali is an ideal tour which gives an opportunity to the tourists who love to trek gorillas at a low cost of gorilla permits and travel a short period of time. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a home of mountain gorillas; this tour will start from Kigali with a city tour then head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Musanze region in Rwanda, passing through Katuna border to Kigezi highlands and enter Bwindi for gorilla trekking which will take place in Ruhija sector.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali City Tour & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Early in the morning, you will be picked up by the professional guide from Love Uganda Safaris, he will brief about the trip and them start with a Kigali city tour where you will visit various places including the Kigali genocide memorial site commemorating the 1994 Rwanda genocide.
After, embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Katuna – an international border between Uganda and Rwanda, then enter Ruhija sector in Bwindi. The journey is 170 kilometers which is approximately 4 hours’ drive. Reach the park, check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali for Departure.
After an early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, the tour guide will drive you to the park head offices for a short briefing on the rules during gorilla trekking. You will be divided into different groups and only 8 people are allowed to trek a mountain gorilla family per day.
This activity can take minutes or even hours depending on the location of the assigned gorilla family; once that gorilla family is traced, you will be given an opportunity to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas only standing within a seven-meter distance.
You will enjoy them feeding their young ones, playing around and have a chance of taking photos with mountain gorillas in Uganda.
After this tiresome activity, return to the lodge for relaxation and then embark on the journey back to Kigali for your departure.
