The 4 days Nyungwe National Park safari takes you to the montane rainforest “Nyungwe National Park” famously known to be a home of beautiful chimpanzees that share almost 98% of the human DNA and it is the only park where canopy walk is currently experienced in East Africa.
The safari also includes a cultural experience with the Banda community village where traditional marriage experience is exhibited and the unique cultural food in this region of Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park and Banda Community Village
You will be warmly picked up by our tour guide from the airport and embark on the journey to Nyungwe forest National Park in southwestern province of Rwanda just 228.2 kilometers, 5 hours’ drive from Kigali international airport. You will reach the park in the afternoon, have lunch and relax.
Proceed for an evening cultural tour at Banda community in Banda village where you have a chance to explore the Rwanda traditional marriage and its tasty traditional foods. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimp trekking
After your hearty breakfast in the morning, you will assemble at Nyungwe forest park headquarters in Uwinka at 8am for a briefing and later embark on the journey to search for chimpanzees.
During a search of these primates lead by a well knowledgeable and experienced ranger guide, you will come across various bird and floral species as you hike through this montane rainforest. This activity will last for 2-6 hours depending on the location of these primates.
The one-hour direct contact with these half human primates is worth remembering and getting attracted to their day to day lifestyle while being entertained by the playful young chimps.
After, retreat from the activity and embark on the journey to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Nyungwe forest canopy walk and hiking
After your breakfast at the lodge, go for canopy walk which is the first tree top forest adventure in East Africa and the third in all Africa. This thrilling canopy walk activity which is 50 meters above the ground gives you an opportunity to see birds flying above and below you, see monkeys playing on top of the trees and have a good scenery view of the huge Nyungwe Forest National Park, this is a beautiful sight and a lifetime experience.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the evening, you will have a nature walk through the forest to experience more flora species, butterflies, tea plantations, all conducted by a well learned tour guide. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive back to Kigali Airport for departure via the genocide memorial center
You will end your safari with hearty cup of coffee in the morning and embark on the journey to Kigali Airport via the Kigali genocide memorial for learning history about a million ethnic Tutsis who lost their lives. Then after proceed with the journey to the airport for your departure.
