This 3 days Rwanda and gorilla safari tour takes you to volcanoes national park, found in the North west region of the country. Famously known for gorilla trekking, Volcanoes National Park also houses the beautiful endangered primate species of golden monkeys.
On this trip you will be delighted to witness the co-existence of these two great species in one place, an experience not usual across the world. While still on this trip you will have a visit to the grave site of the influential Dian Fossey and also a community visit to the Ibyiwachu community village. This tour will commence and end in Kigali city.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast at your lodge, you will be picked up by the company’s tour guide who will brief you about the 3 days’ tour in Rwanda. Start off your journey and drive to volcanoes national park which is about 2 hours.
After check in at your lodge, visit the grave site of Dian fossy, a heroic primatologist and anthropologist who dedicated her life to study and protect the gorilla species.
This visit greatly gives tribute for a great work and determination in volcanoes national park. Return to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for an authentic cultural encounter of the Ibyiwachu people.
The Ibyiwachu community village accommodates the Banyarwanda people that will show case their unique and indigenous culture through their traditional dance, folk songs, hunting and gathering practices, brew making and milking which is quite an entertaining and joyful experience.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Have a tasty warm breakfast as you prepare for an ultimate gorilla experience in volcanoes national park. This experience will expose you to the livelihood of the gorillas as see them play, feed, nature each other in the green vegetation of the park memories worth capturing with a camera.
You will only spend 1 hour with the gorillas and trek them for 2 to 6 hours. This park has about 10 habituated families that are trekked on every Rwanda gorilla safari. Later on after this tedious but fun activity, head back to the lodge for a rest and dinner.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and return to Kigali
This will be the last day of the 3 days Rwanda tour but still, more fun adventure waits! just after your early morning breakfast head to the parks headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while trekking the golden monkeys. Just as the gorillas you will only spend 1 hour with these jumpy, shy and well colored primates.
The park has about two habituated golden monkey groups that are trekked by tourists. The trekking duration will depend the location on these jumpy primates but it can take lesser time since they are found near the base volcanoes. After, you will drive back to Kigali city for departure to your next destinations.
