Detailed summary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park, Ibyiwachu community center
Pick up from the international airport of Kigali, have a briefing for your 2 days gorilla safari in Rwanda by a professional safari guide. Head to Volcanoes national park in the western region of Rwanda, have lunch and visit Iby’iwacu community village for a cultural encounter.
This Banyarwanda community showcases their traditional hunting, farming skills, brew making from banana plantain and millet grinding, for you will be allowed to participate in some of these activities.
You will also be entertained by their enticing traditional dance and folk songs of the native communities. Later on head to the lodge, check in and wait for a delicious meal and an overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking, transfer to Kigali
Have an early morning breakfast, and head for a briefing about the trek at the headquarters at 7:00 am. This park has about 10 habituated gorilla families that include Susa family, Sabinyo family, Amahoro family, Agashya family, Umubano family, Kwitonda family, Hirwa family and Karisimbi family, etc.
You will trek a family of your choice for about 6 hours and have a one on one encounter with these beautiful species for about one hour. After this activity return to the lodge for check out and proceed back to Kigali international airport for departure to your next destination.
