7 Days Congo Gorillas & Serengeti Wildlife Safari

In this 7-days Congo and Serengeti safari, you will have the opportunity of exploring three of Africa’s gifted and famous national parks, while engaging in unforgettable activities, including Mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park (one of Africa’s oldest national parks), game viewing at Serengeti national park (host to the great wildebeest migration), watching one of the world’s seven wonders, Ngorongoro crater and enjoying a rewarding Kigali city tour.

You will also have an amazing cultural encounter with the Masai herdsmen in Tanzania, spend nights in accommodations of your choice, be guided by an expert tour guide, and enjoy a comfortable ride on a 4WD safari vehicle. The tip starts in Rwanda and ends in Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup and Kigali city tour

Upon Landing at Kigali international airport, our driver-guide will be glad to welcome you to the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda for the seven days rewarding primate trekking adventure at the Democratic Republic of Congo, and game viewing in Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania.

When the two of you meet, he will take you to a comfortable café for some class of Juice as well as a briefing, where the entire trip will be explained to you, and some of your inquiries answered, and in case you have some Balance to clear, I will be the right time.

Thereafter, he will drive you around Kigali city, one of the most organized and cleanest cities in Africa, taking you to the Rwanda local markets to purchase some of the Trip items you lack, watch locals trade, exchange money to local currency for an easy transaction, and get some souvenirs.

Thereafter, you will be taken for lunch before proceeding to the 1994 Rwanda Genocide memorial site to learn more about over 250,000 people who were innocently massacred during the Hutu and Tutsi conflict. You will be told stories and showed documentaries concerning the killings before driving to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Virunga National Park

At sunrise, you will welcome the day with a delicious Rwandan cup of Coffee followed by a smooth drive to Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while traversing Rwanda’s Undulating Hills, green plantations and the locals waving with unending smiles.

You will have a lunch stop at Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest freshwater Lake where you will also enjoy taking photos, watching the clear sky, and a brief boat ride. Thereafter, proceed to your accommodation, in or around the park, arriving in the evening for refreshment, dinner, and overnight. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours’ drive.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking and cultural encounter

At daybreak, you will enjoy a hefty cup of coffee and then pack all you tracking tools, such as the cameras, Binoculars, hiking boots, water, among others and head to the park’s headquarters for Mountain gorilla trekking that kick starts with a briefing and document verification by the park stewards at 8:00 am, local time.

These expert park rangers will tell you the dos and don’ts while with the gentle Apes before allocating you to a specific Gorilla family and accompanying you to the Jungle to search for them. The mere fact that these are mobile creatures, they keep shifting from one location to another each day, and tracking them can last for approximately 3-5 hours.

However, you will be coming across some other primates, unique birds, and plant species that will keep the conversation and the smile alive. One hour is given to you to spend watching, ask questions, and take photos of the giant silverbacks, young ones, and the mothers nursing their young ones.

After, you will return to the lodge for lunch before heading an amazing two-hour culture encounter with the local natives who will entertain you with exciting stories, songs, and local dances. Refreshment, dinner, and overnight will be spent at your lodge

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and fly to Serengeti national park

After enjoying a cup of coffee this morning, check out of the lodge and drive to Kigali airport and immediately fly to Arusha, Tanzania. The drive to Kigali lasts for 5-6 hours, on a tarmac road while enjoying some of the Jaw-dropping sceneries of the rolling hills, scattered homesteads in the countryside.

You will arrive at your hotel in Arusha in the evening, quite exhausted but excited to receive a tasty dinner and relaxed siesta.

Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon Maasai cultural encounter

Start your day with breakfast, followed by a 4-5 hour rewarding guided game drive in the open savanna grassland of Serengeti national park. You will have the chance of spotting both preys and predators searching for what to put in their Bellies; these include lions, leopards, Buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, Antelopes among others, plus several plant and tree species

After the game drive experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an unforgettable visit to the Masai community, one of the renowned herding communities in Africa. They will show you some of their tools, tell you some sweet stories, sing and dance to their cultural victory songs.

We advise that you carry some money to donate, as well as buy some souvenirs before driving back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Morning game safari and Ngorongoro crater top of the Rim hike

On this day, you will wake up very early in the morning and storm the wilderness in the quest for the early morning hunters roaming around the park in search of what to eat, and the night hunters return from the battlefield. The emphasis will be put on spotting those mammals in the park that you possibly missed the previous day.

After the 3-4 hour search, you will enjoy bush breakfast before returning to the lodge to check out and head to Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest crater on land, featuring among the top seven world wonders. You will arrive in the afternoon and then proceed for a one to two-hour walk to the top of the crater rim that opens your eyes to what nature holds for man.

When luck strikes, you not only be amazed by the birds roaming around but also, to the sight of different primates and mammals at their residence.  Dinner and overnight will follow this amazing adventure

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport

On this day After breakfast, you will head out for a rewarding 3-4 hours’ game drive in the quest for Africa’s big5 residing in this place, namely, Lions, Rhinos, Buffaloes, elephants, and Leopards among others, whereby on a good day, you can be lucky to see all of them, including other mammals such as the Jackson hartebeest, zebras, waterbuck, cheetahs, oribis, hyenas and many more, plus several birds.

After the game drive, head back to the lodge for lunch, and then checkout with all your belongings to find a flight at Mount Kilimanjaro international airport.
