10 Days Gorilla Trekking, Masai Mara & Serengeti

In this 10-days safari, you will visit Volcanoes national park, home to the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda, the famous Masai Mara National park in Kenya adored with unmatched biodiversity, Serengeti national park in Tanzania, a host of the annual wildebeest migration, and Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest land crater featuring among the seven world wonders.

You will have memorable city tours around Kigali and Nairobi city, a boat cruise at the Twins Lake, classic accommodations, amazing safe drive, and good security during your stay. The trip starts from Kigali Rwanda, goes to Nairobi – Kenya and ends in Tanzania.

Safari in Details

Day One: Pick up, city tour and Volcanoes national park

Upon landing at Kigali international airport, our company representative will be glad to meet and give you a warm reception; going ahead to brief you on the does and don’ts while in this rewarding 10-days safari in three east African countries, plus answering some of your inquiries.

Thereafter, you will start with a rewarding Kigali city tour, visiting the Genocide Memorial to watch a few documentaries about the 1994 Rwanda massacre, resulting from the conflict between the Hutus and Tutsi’s as well as a visiting the local markets to purchase few items you will need for the trip. Lunch will be at the city before hitting the road on a 2-3 hour drive to Volcanoes national park, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day Two: Gorilla trekking and canoeing on Twin lakes

You will start this day with a very delicious energy-giving cup of Coffee and then drive to the park’s headquarters to join others for a pre-trekking briefing by the park rangers, starting at 8:00 am. They will verify your documents, allocate you to one gorilla family of your choice, and tell you the dos and don’ts while tracking the gentle apes in the Jungle.

After briefing, a park ranger and a security person will accompany you to the wild for the 1-4 hours’ search, picking it up from the point where the creatures were last spotted. You will be surprised to spot different primates, birds, the backdrop of Mountain Bisoke, and unique tree species on the as you track.

When you find these Apes, spend the one hour given to you to closely take photos and watch their unique behaviors, and social life, before having a lunch break followed by 2 hours’ canoe experience along the Twin lakes, with a rewarding opportunity of watching the Hippos, Crocodiles and some water birds plus mammals by the Lake shores. End the day with dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day Three:  Morning community walks and Transfer to Nairobi city

At sunrise, you will enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and then check out of the lodge for an optional community walk, where you will visit the natives of the place; studying their way of life and interacting with them on different topics, such as health and culture.

Thereafter, proceed with the Journey to Kigali international airport but with an enroute stopover. Upon arriving at the airport, you will catch a scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya, where our company representative will be anxiously waiting to transfer you to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day Four: City tour and Transfer to Masai Mara National park

Start your day with a cup of coffee, before joining our driver guide who will tour with you around the city, visiting the national museum and Local markets. Thereafter, you will proceed with the 5-6hour drive, traversing the fascinating rolling hills, plantations, and the locals who will be excited to see and wave to you.

You will have a stopover at the Great Rift Valley for photography, as well as spotting Mount Longonot, and another stopover will be at Narok trading center for Late Lunch before departing for your lodge late in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day Five:  Explore Maasai Mara game reserve

Breakfast first, followed by a full day game drive experience at the vast savanna grassland of Masai Mara game reserve, a co-host of the annual wildebeest migration and an asylum to Africa’s big five (lions, leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, and Buffalos), co-existing with other mammals including cheetah, giraffes, Zebras, wildebeest among other, together with birds such as Flamingoes, and ostrich, unique tree species among others.

You will have a Lunch Break and then go to the Mara River in the afternoon to spot the Crocodiles, Hippos, and some water birds such as the Kingfisher. After, you will drive back to the lodge to refresh, enjoy your dinner meal and peaceful night

Day Six: Transfer to Serengeti national park

After breakfast, you will pack all you’re belonging and checkout of the lodge for a 7-8 hours’ drive to Serengeti national park, Tanzanians top travel destination. You will have document verifications and lunch at the Isebania border before proceeding to your lodge for dinner and overnight. The drive takes you through a very fascinating route with green plantations and scattered homesteads.

Day Seven: Morning Game Drive and Maasai community visits

After having a delicious cup of coffee, you will join your driver-guide on a 4WD to the vast savannah grassland, visiting the different corners of the park, with an expectation of watching elephants, lions, leopards, Antelopes, Buffaloes, and Giraffe among others, either feeding, resting, hunting or spying for the rest.

After the 4-5 hours’ game viewing experience, you will return to the lodge for a mouth-watering lunch meal, followed by an exciting encounter with the Masai cultural group, that have held to their culture of Herding. They will show you some of the tools they use during grazing, and dance to the beats of African drums. 

Day Eight: Depart Serengeti national park and Have a Top of Ngorongoro crater rim

As you wake up from slumber, get to the breakfast table for a delicious cup of coffee, before checking out of the lodge and embarking on a 4-6 hours’ amazing drive to Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest land crater.

You will arrive in the afternoon and proceed for Lunch, and then two hours guided exploration of the Crater rim, that exposes you to fascinating landscape, primates, the big5 African mammals, and unique bird species among others. End the day with dinner and overnight at your lodge

Day Nine: Full day Game viewing experience

You will spend approximately six hours of this day traversing the different corners of Ngorongoro crater on a 4WD after breakfast, searching for different mammals such as the lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, Buffaloes, Cheetahs, Rhinos and antelopes among others, while encountering rare bird species, primates and so on.

You will have a picnic Lunch before summing up the adventure and returning to your lodge for a relaxed afternoon, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Day Ten: Depart Ngorongoro crater for your departure flight

 After waking up from a deep slumber, you will be served with a delicious cup of coffee before checking out of the lodge to embark on a 3-5 hours’ drive to the airport to get your flight to mark the end of the ten remarkable days in a foreign country.
