On this 8 days Uganda safari you will embark on an amazing journey to Uganda’s most beautiful national parks. This tour will take you to Mount Elgon national park where you will hike the world’s largest caldera, then to kidepo valley national park in the north east region of the country, – Uganda’s most virgin land, where beautiful savannah plains are endowed and not forget the beautiful wildlife in the park.
Later on proceed to the largest national park in Uganda – Murchison falls national park that will avail you with beautiful wildlife on game drives and a boat cruise. This trip will commence and end in Kampala.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Mbale & Hike the Sipi falls
Have an early morning breakfast, pick up by guide and set off to Mbale in eastern Uganda via Jinja highway. Have an enroute lunch in Mbale and later proceed to Kapchorwa – home of the Sipi falls.
The sunset hike will unleash the waterfall series of the Sipi that consist of three descending waterfalls found on the edges of Mount Elgon. You will hike up to the start of the first waterfall that flows 85 mm, 70 mm and 100 mm for the late waterfall respectively.
This activity needs when someone is physically fit for it involves hiking up and coming back to the base of the falls but this all will reward you with a refreshing view of the three series waterfalls. After this activity head to the lodge you checked in.
Day 2: Short day hike & coffee farm visits
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast, prepare for a short day hike via Budadiri trail that will lead to the beautiful view of the Mudagi cliffs, Sasa river camp and Drigana lower falls; these areas favor bird watching in the park. Head back for lunch and in the afternoon have a visit of coffee farms on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
These slopes are well known for the black beans of Arabica coffee that are unique to this area across the country. The community guide will take you through the planting, harvesting and processing of the coffee. Later on head back to the lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
Take a tasty breakfast, prepare for a check out at the accommodation and embark on a journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. A stop over will be made for lunch and relaxation then proceed the journey to the park.
On arrival, check in at the lodge where dinner and an overnight will be prepared for you.
Day 4: Morning and evening game drive
After early breakfast, prepare for a morning game drive in the Narus valley that is found in the southern sector of the park. A variety of wild game will be availed to you such as zebras, waterbucks, Antelopes, herds of buffaloes and giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for an evening game drive in the Kidepo valley.
This area has beautiful savannah vegetation with a view of the recurring mountains of the park, this valley also has unique wildlife such as Ostriches and cheetahs that maybe spotted by lucky visitors while on the game drive. After, return for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Set off early in the morning from Kidepo Valley National park to Murchison falls national park via Gulu – Pakwach highway. Have an enroute lunch on the way as you proceed to Murchison falls N/P for rest and supper.
Day 6: Full day game drive
Have a delicious breakfast, head for a morning game safari through Murchison falls N/P that exposes one to the beautiful wild game that fill the park’s endless plains, such as the Giraffes, lions, buffaloes, warthogs, elephants; in addition to big game, spot different bird species that include famous shoebill stock, horn bills, and Congo mountain rangers in far distance.
This drive will reward you more with amazing scenic view of the vegetation and exploration of the Albert Nile delta and Buligi game tracks that offer more birding and wildlife experience while in the park. After this amazing experience return back to the lodge for relaxation as you wait for dinner.
Day 7: Boat cruise, hike to top of the falls
Wake up to a morning launch cruise on the Nile, in a view of the different aquatic mammals that live along the banks of Nile river such as crocodiles, hippopotamus, water birds, Oribis and many more as you sail towards the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls – the world’s strongest waterfalls. Later begin hiking to top of the falls through the woodland forest.
This hike will reward you with panoramic view of both the Uhuru falls and Murchison falls. As you continue your journey, have cool and photography moment of the aerial views of both waterfalls.
After proceed to the end of your hike, meet your driver guide and drive back to the lodge through the southern sector. Have lunch and spend the rest day of the day cooling off at a swimming pool.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala
This day will mark the end of 8 days safari in Uganda, have breakfast and head for a 5-hour drive to Kampala, with an optional visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. Lunch at Kabalega dinners or Ziwa rhino campsite, proceed to the city for departure to the next destination.
