3 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking

This 3-day primate tour will take you to Uganda’s principle primate land – Kibale national park; which is located in the western region in Kabarole and Kamwenge districts. The major activities on this tour are chimpanzee trekking and nature walks in Bigodi wetland and having additional enroute activities such as a visit to Amabere Ga’ Nyinamwiru – a geographical site with attached traditional beliefs.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park. Nature walk in Bigodi wetland.

The 3-day tour to Uganda’s primate capital will start on this day, with a pickup from your location by our well experienced guide; have a briefing at the entire tour activities and movements.

Start the journey from Kampala and pass via Mubende-Kyenjojo road where stop over will be made for a small chill then proceed to fort portal town for lunch.

In the afternoon have a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. This area is not only a wetland but a heaven endowed with a number of primates, reptiles and bird species that are endemic only to this area, for example the great blue turaco, primate species such as the red tailed monkey, Vervet monkey, white and black Colobus monkey, grey cheeked Mangabeys among others; all which can be seen during the walk within the beautiful wetland. Later return to the lodge for dinner and sleep over.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking

Have an early morning breakfast, head to the Kibale national park headquarters for a briefing by park guide about chimpanzee trekking. This activity will take about 2 to 6 hours as you look for the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

You will be led by the tour guide who will help take you to the places where you can easily spot these beauties. The chimpanzees are very interesting species to trek as they have a fun and human-like livelihood worth seeing on your 3 days Kibale tour. After the great trek, head back for lunch, relaxation and chills till evening.

 Day 3: Visit Amabere Ganyinamwiru caves. Return to Kampala.

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, drive 10 km outside fort portal to visit Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru, a historical site known for its unique physical beauty that have both traditional and geographical back ground that will be explained by the community guide.

You will trek this beautiful scenic area with waterfalls and beautiful flora, after this have lunch in the fort portal town where you will proceed to Kampala for a take-off to your next destination through Entebbe international airport.
