The 4 days Murchison falls and chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest is an ideal tour which enables you to explore the mighty Murchison falls and the largest National Park in Uganda. The park is located in the north-western region of Uganda, 282 kilometers which is approximately 4-hour drive from Kampala.
The park neighbors the districts of Masindi, Nwoya, Kiryandongo and Buliisa. During this tour, you will have an opportunity to spot numerous wildlife animals such as; Oribis, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs and much more, undertake a boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls and hike up to the top of the falls and trek chimps in Budongo forest.
Detailed Itinerary
Pick up by the tour guide from Kampala and embark on a long journey to Murchison falls N/park. Murchison falls National Park is the largest park in Uganda and a home to the most powerful falls in the world.
Along the journey to Murchison falls national park, you will have a stopover in Masindi town for lunch and stretch up and later proceed to the lodge. As soon as you reach the park, the baboons, warthogs and so many other primates will warmly welcome you as you drive through the park to your place of accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Early morning game drive, launch Cruise and Hike to Top of the Falls
After an early morning cup of coffee, you will proceed to the park for a morning game drive in the northern sector of the park. This activity lasts for 3-4 hours and during the game drive, you have a chance to spot out wildlife animals like kobs, warthogs, Hartebeests, Oribis and much more. After return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation as you wait for an afternoon boat cruise.
After lunch, you will drive to Paraa jetty for a thrilling boat cruise which sets off at 2pm heading to the bottom of the falls. This activity avails you with chances of seeing numerous bird species such as silver birds, blue napped mouse birds, weavers to mention but a few and aquatic species like Hippos, Nile crocodiles, shoebill stork.
Hike to the top of Murchison falls where you will be exposed to the thunderous roar of the waters of R. Nile. After a 3-hour activity, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Budongo forest for chimpanzee trekking
After a cup of coffee early in the morning, transfer to Budongo forest within Murchison Falls national park in the southern sector for chimpanzee trekking.
The guide will drive you to the forest ranger station for a short briefing on chimp trekking adventure, then you will be divided into groups before trekking down to the interior of this tropical forest to look for the chimps.
Upon reaching them, you will be advised to spend 1 hour with them while taking pictures, enjoying one on one experience with these lovely apes. Conclude the activity and retire to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Travel Back to Kampala Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
After breakfast in the morning, you will set off on your journey back to Kampala, have enroute stop in Nakitoma village, Nakasongola district for rhino trekking in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will spend like 2 hours, proceed to Kampala for your departure.
