These 4 days Virunga and Nyiragongo tour takes you to Democratic Republic of Congo – land rich in attractions and nature. Have a full experience in in the most visited national park in the area, Virunga national park for gorilla trekking and a hike of Nyiragongo Mountain, one of the most active volcanoes in the country.
This visit may seem thrilling and scary but it’s worth undertaking for the brave and adventurous due to the rewarding view of the great species and mountain lava. The trip will commence and end in Kigali.
Details
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali
Have a pick from the international airport of Kigali by our professional guide. Have an optional tour of Kigali city where a visit to the tour markets and art shops will be made the drive to western Rwanda.
Have an enroute lunch and do all border crossing paper pass through Goma border to Virunga National park in Congo. From there proceed to Mikeno lodge for an evening relaxation as you wait for dinner and night stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga N/Park
Wake up early after breakfast; head to Bukima sector – the starting point for gorilla trekking in the Virunga national park. Head start with briefing session and proceed to the exciting activity in the jungle.
The trek takes about 2 to 8 hours and this also depends on the location on the gorilla family. You will be led by a guide as you have a full encounter with these great species. Spend one hour with the gorilla family found. After, return to the lodge for supper and sleepover.
Day 3: Hike Mount Nyiragongo
On this day get ready for another adventure in the jungle as you get ready to head for a hike to the active stratovolcano. Head to Kibati patrol post, for a briefing about the hike that will start at 9:00am.
You will hike up with all necessary requires to the summit of the mountain since the hike will take around 4 hours that will avail more time to enjoy the lava scenes and the summit breeze.
You will have a sleep over at the summit camp site and a well prepared delicious supper by a cook guide who will have escorted you.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali
After a cloud’s breakfast, descend from the summit of Mount Nyiragongo that will take as much time as it took while ascending. Reach at the headquarters where the guide will be waiting for you.
Drive back to Kigali, Rwanda for departure to the next destination as this day will mark the end of our 4 days Virunga and Nyiragongo tour.
