20 Days Exceptional Uganda Holiday

20 days Uganda safari is offering you a life changing experience, as this journey will lead to the discovery and exploration of Uganda’s beauty found in the beautiful diversity of landscapes where a number of activities and wildlife will be joyed from the primates’ hunts, to wildlife viewing and a number of fun and memorable activities in Uganda’s top destinations.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga national park

After a safe landing at the airport, meet up with the company’s guide that will drive you to south western Uganda; a summary brief about the 20-day safari in Uganda will be given as you set off for life adventure around the top most Uganda’s destinations.

A stop over will be made at the Equator in Kayabwe for a short tour and photography, another stopover in Mbarara for lunch then proceed to Kisoro where we find Mgahinga national park. Dinner and a sleep over will be prepared.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

Have early breakfast as you prepare for an amazing experience with the gorillas in the jungle. After a briefing at the park’s headquarters, set off to trek for the mountain gorillas in the forest. This will take about 2 to 8 hours and one hour will be spent with the gorilla family found.

The Nyakagezi family is the only family that is fully habituated in the park, on meeting these great species photography and video coverage will be allowed as you interact with man’s most cousins, after return back to the lodge.

Day 3: Golden monkey habituation experience

In the land where silver meets gold, Mgahinga national park houses the endangered species of the golden monkeys. After your warm breakfast proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing session about the do’s and don’ts while trekking the golden monkeys.

As you walk through the beautiful bamboo trees you will encounter the monkeys swinging, feeding on fruits and playing in their most comfort zone. You will use the Gahinga tail for the hike.  Four hours will be spent with species and later head back to the lodge for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi and Batwa community tour

Have breakfast, check out of the lodge and head to Bwindi impenetrable national park in Buhoma sector. This sector is in the northern region of Bwindi, approximately 4 hours’ drive from Mgahinga national park.

Upon early arrival at the park, you will rest and wait for lunch at the checked in lodge. After lunch visit the Batwa community, the pygmies people known for their rich culture and traditions.

You will have a one on one encounter of these people as you will be exposed to their traditions and culture through their hunting and gathering skills, dances and the folk stories. After this activity you will return for a delicious meal and a rest at the lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Buhoma sector

After a warm cup of tea get ready for another gorilla trekking experience in Buhoma sector. This sector has 4 gorilla families that one hour will be allowed to spend with a respective gorilla family assigned during the trek. It will take about 2 to 8 hours and after this activity you will head back to the lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national back, Ishasha sector

On this day, you will depart from Bwindi and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park after a late breakfast. You will have a game drive through the Ishasha sector in view of its exceptional tree climbing lions; these lions are only in two areas of the world’s that’s in Queen Elizabeth national park and Tanzania.

Take a drive through the beautiful savannah grassland as you view these elusive lions. After the view of these mammals drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise

Wake up early for another explore in the savannah grassland. Have a morning game drive in the kasenyi sector were wild game such as lions, Hyenas, Buffalos, giraffes and warthogs among others.

After lunch head for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel where more mammals and birds will be viewed such Hippos, crocodiles, antelopes and monitor lizards on the shores. After, return to the lodge for an overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale national park, Bigodi wetland nature walk

After breakfast get ready for another journey to Kibale national park; close to the park you will make a visit to Bigodi wetland sanctuary for primate and wildlife viewing.

This swamp is good for nature walks, community visits and encouragement in the local community activities like local food preparation, weaving etc. since it’s a community based project.

While on this nature walk, you’ll spot various wildlife such as antelopes, bush pigs primates like the red tailed monkeys, blue turaco and the Colobus monkeys among others. After this fun activity, return to the lodge for a warm supper.

Day 9: Chimpanzee habituation

Have an early morning breakfast and head to the parks headquarters for a briefing. This activity will take the whole day therefor packed lunch would be recommended.

Start the activity at 7: 00am as you track the chimpanzee livelihood from the time they wake up to dawn when they call off their day. Head back to the lodge for rest after this fun and tiresome activity.

Day 10: Transfer to Semuliki national park

 After a warm cup of coffee, drive to the birders haven Semuliki national park for birding experience. Semuliki national park has over 441 bird species that will be spotted while on a nature walk through the green forest.

Arrive at the park, have a short briefing then head into a bird hunt, birds such as the Ituri Batis, Blue- billed, Long-tailed Hawk, Nkulengu Rail, Red- billed Helmet- shrike, Maxwell’s Black weaver, Piping Hornbill, White –bellied Kingfisher, spot breasted lbis will be viewed.

Also a hike to the Sempaya hot springs will be refreshing as you a catch a glimpse of the beautiful male and female hot springs. After return to the lodge.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison falls national park enroute Hoima town

This great district found near the shores of Lake Albert, has many attractions that will be visited on this day.

This area is rich in traditional history, beautiful natural landscapes that will be visted these include; a hike to Musaijja mukulu Hill, visit to the kings’ palace, katasiha fort, and Kibiro caves. After this tour, check in at the hotel for a rest.

Day 12:  Half day game drive in Murchison falls N/park

After early breakfast, head for a morning game drive in park where a number of game will be viewed such as giraffes, buffalos, lions, leopards, elephants etc. This drive will take you as far as the Albert Nile, while you will witness the waters separating from the Albert waters.

Others animals such as the zebras, warthogs will also be seen. After this drive return for late lunch and relax till evening for your dinner.

Day 13: Boat cruise, hike to top of the falls                          

As you still pondering on the wonders of Murchison falls national park? get ready for more fun as after breakfast, have a boat cruise on the Nile where a number of wildlife such as crocodiles and hippos will be seen not to forget the thunderous Murchison falls.

The cruise will end at the bottom of the falls where the hike will begin. You will hike to the top of the view with the rewarding view of both Uhuru falls and Murchison falls. Later on head back to the lodge for a rest.

Day 14: Transfer to Kampala via Ziwa Rhino Ranch

On this day our journey will lead back to Kampala city, have an en route Ziwa rhino sanctuary where you will trek rhinos. This activity will take about 1 hour plus a briefing at the headquarters.

After have lunch at Kabalenga’s dinners then proceed to Kampala where you have a sleep over and dinner.

Day 15:  Transfer to Jinja enroute Mabira forest

Rise and sunshine in Kampala city, have a cup of tea and head to Jinja city in eastern Uganda. Have an en route in Mabira forest where you will do Mangabey tracking; the forest has two habituated groups of the old monkeys that will be seen on the track together with other flora and fauna in the forest.

Have lunch and head for zip lining across the beautiful canopy of the forest; this activity will take about 3 hours. Later on, drive to Jinja city where you will spend your night.

Day 16: White water rafting in Jinja

After a warm cup of tea, get ready for another adventure in Jinja. A full day of white water rafting on the longest river in the world; it’s truly a rewarding activity!

Head to the starting point, have a briefing about safety, get on the rafting garments and hit the rapids. Begin on the calm water, then later encounter the chaotic and turbulent rapids which are stronger as you descend the river.

Don’t forget to hold on the rope and hold your breath as the boat turn over or paddle more. You will able to take pictures while at this activity its advised to carry light clothes for this activity and leave the dry ones for change up after the activity. Return to the lodge for a chill and dinner.

Day 17: Source of the Nile boat cruise and visit Itanda falls.

This will make the 3 day as you continue to explore Jinja city. Have a lovely breakfast head to the source of the Nile for another exploration which you will have on a boat ride on Lake Victoria to the exact spot where the lake meets the longest river in the world.

Later on have lunch and head to Itanda falls for a great view of the Nile rapids, take picture and refresh on the banks of the river. After a long day of maximum fun head back to the hotel.

Day 18: Transfer to Kampala, city tour

As nearing the end of our 20 days safari, it would be unfortunate not to tour the busy city of Kampala. Being the capital city of Uganda, its diversity is a must experience, you will be able to visit Gadhafi mosque, Nakasero market, Uganda museum and the Kabaka’s palace.

Day 19: Visit Reptile village and Entebbe Botanical garden

Wake up for another tour around Kampala, after a warm breakfast drive to Entebbe where you will visit the Reptile Village along the way. This is a community based project that takes cares of reptile species that include, snakes, turtles, crocodiles and chameleons all in one eco-friendly environment.

After have lunch and head to Entebbe botanical garden for a calm nature walk through the beautiful vegetation.

Day 20: Departure

This day will mark the end of your 20 days safari in Uganda.  After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the airport for departure to the next destination.
