Brief but very rewarding, a one-day safari to Murchison falls national park, Uganda’s oldest and largest national park harboring the world’s most powerful waterfalls (Murchison falls), 4 of Africa’s big five (lions, leopards, Buffaloes, and Elephants), sought after shoebill stock, unique tree species such as the whistling acacia, and Africa’s oldest mahogany forest, Budongo forest which is an asylum to human’s cousins, the chimpanzees open for trekking by all interested primate lovers.
The park is located in north-western Uganda, covering the districts of Masindi, Buliisa and Nwoya among others, taking 45mins to1 hour flight from Entebbe international airport, and 5-6 hours drive from Kampala, Uganda’s capital city.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Morning game drive, afternoon boat cruise and Departure
On this day, our driver-guide will pick you up after breakfast at your accommodation in Masindi or Pakwach town, and proceed to brief you about the day’s activities before driving to the northern sector of the park in case you enter through the southern gate.
Start the 3-4 hours’ game drive experience where you have the chance of spotting several mammals roaming in the savanna grassland such as the Buffalos, Antelopes, Giraffes, Elephants, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, among others, then that extraordinary luck of spotting lions, leopards, resting or Hunting.
There are also unique bird’s species such as the Guinea fowls, Egyptian-geese, crested cranes and shoebill stock to look out for during this adventure
After having a picnic lunch, you will head for an amazing 2 to 3 hours’ boat cruise that will take you to bottom of the falls to watch the thundering waterfalls, take photos, and watch the Nile crocodiles, hippos, and water birds, plus some mammals such as mammals quenching their thirst by the lake shores. Thereafter, you will depart the park to your next destination.
